Harem

2023 MENA Canada Filmmaking Grant-winning film. Screened at MENA 5 as a work in progress preview.
Synopsis:

Harem is the story of a Kurdish visual artist trying to make a new life in Canada while also balancing the nostalgia for his home country and loved ones.

Drawing parallels between the precarious nature of the creative process and making a life in a new country, this film uses Harem’s art to reimagine his experiences, fears, and hopes of one day living a good life in Canada with his wife and mother who are still back in Iraq.
