Industry Rendezvous: Project Funding and Pitch Workshop

Co-presented with:

Are you developing a film project and soon looking for funding? Have you lost your way through the online funding platforms trying to access what’s right for you or missed out on funding and can’t understand why? Following last festival’s successful How to Finance Your Film workshop, MENA 5 is hosting an expanded roster of the top regional and national funding organizations for an Industry Rendezvous.

This expanded session is a chance to both hear about each funder’s programs and requirements, as well as to share your work and ask specific questions to each body about their programs one-on-one. You will have the opportunity to receive feedback about your ideas, learn more about opportunities available, and meet the faces behind the organizations!

The Industry Rendezvous is open to all, but priority for one-on-one’s will be given to MENA/SWANA identifying filmmakers in case of limited resources.

Program

Pre-production – When you sign up, you will get you an email with more details about the Industry Rendezvous, as well as a form asking for a bit more information about your background and project (if you have one).

(Please be sure to arrive on time so we can ensure your one-on-one schedule.)

2:30PM – Doors open – receive the program and your one-on-one schedule, mingle and network.

3PM – 10-minute presentation from our funders about their programs and what kinds of films they fund.

3:45PM  – Break for food and refreshments supplied by catering partner Zaatar w Zeit

4PM – Outbreak sessions commence with your pre-schedule representatives.

  • Each session will last 7 minutes with a one-minute pause between to changeover.
  • Participants are encouraged to discuss their projects at greater length with the funding representatives, or ask direct questions about the funding programs. The time is yours!
  • In case of late or no-shows, pairings may be filled based on expressed interest in the pre-production forms.

5:30PM  – Wrap. Please continue to the lobby, where discussion can continue informally while capacity allows. Please be aware that this is an ongoing movie venue and there may be screenings.

Ticketing: We know it’s tough to create independent film in Vancouver, so ticketing has been designed on a sliding scale.

All filmmakers are welcome, but in case of high demand for particular representatives, preference will be given to MENA/SWANA, Indigenous and BIPOC filmmakers
