Aslı Özarslan

Born in Berlin, she studied theatre and media at the University of Bayreuth and philosophy and sociology at the Université Sorbonne IV in Paris from 2007-2011. This was followed by editorial work for 3sat Kulturezeit, ZDF, ARD foreign studio Warsaw. From 2012 to 2017, she studied documentary film directing at the Filmakademie Baden-Wüttemberg. In 2014 she received the Deutschlandstipendium, in 2015 the Akademie der Künste scholarship in the film and media art section and in 2017 the scholarship of the Kulturakademie Tarabya in Istanbul. in 2023 she was invited by NETFLIX for a talent workshop in Prague. INSEL 36 (2014) and her graduation documentary film DIL LEYLA (2016) won international and national awards. Her current debut film project ELBOW (2024) has its world premiere at the 74th Berlinale in the Generation section.
